Cllr Caroline Cross
Councillor Caroline Cross
I live and work in Irthlingborough.
Town Councillor for Waterloo Ward as the result of a by-election in 2012. Re-elected in 2015
Currently serve on the Planning Committee and Events Committee. I have represented the TC at ENC planning meetings; speaking out against excessive takeaways in the High St and overdevelopment in the town. I have served on many other committees including the Irthlingborough Community Centre Working Party which was set up to increase the fortunes of this venue. I am always present at Full Council meetings. Your voice must be heard.
I have instigated many initiatives as a Town Councillor; the outdoor gym, the planting around The Cross and a litter-related initiative involving local schoolchildren. I am equally concerned with the little things. No issue is too trivial to warrant attention. If a single resident is unhappy, so am I.
I am the TC's link member with the police and one of two town flood wardens
I hold a surgery on the third Saturday of the month: 10.00am – 11.00am in the library.
I campaigned to save Irthlingborough Library and the historic Horseshoe pub from demolition.
I established the environmental group, Friends of the Irth (weeding and litter-picking), and I run the Fettledine Afternoon Club for elderly and isolated residents. I am a member of I-Grow (town events) and a volunteer for Irthlingborough Food Bank. I have been involved with the Crow Hill Bingo Nights from the start.
Employed as a Support Worker for Mencap, I am also a Director of NREC (Northamptonshire Race & Equality Council), a Litter Heroes Ambassador for Keep Britain Tidy and I volunteer for a national helpline.
Proactive, visible and approachable, I listen to residents' concerns and do all that I can, with the help of council office staff, to deliver for them. I take my duty as a Town Councillor extremely seriously.
It is a huge honour to serve the people of Irthlingborough on the Town Council; 'the most important tier of Local Government.' (UK Local Councils).
Please contact me on 07527530529 if you would like to know more about my social club (open to all), Friends of the Irth or any other matter.
Thank you for taking the time to find out about your local representative.
